These plate hangers are wonderful. They work by solidly adhering to the surface of the back of the plate and are easily removed with warm water. The disc plate hanger also has excellent adhesion to unvarnished wood and hardboard. It is ideal for hanging plates, tiles, metal/tole trays, ceramic art, studio pottery plates, fused glass plates, small pictures and 3D objects of many sizes. They have been used successfully for decades in England and have finally made their way here to the US. The disc can be trimmed to fit the shape of your unique piece. The discs should not be used when you want to preserve a paper label on the plate.

Do not use if you value your plates

I bought 4 of these in August 2011 for a set of 4 matching Williams Sonoma plates (5" plates). Thank god I bought the plates on sale, because in about a month, one of the hanging plates fell! The backing peeled off of the plate. Needless to say, the edge of my plate chipped off. I added water to the yellow hanger disc again, and stuck it back on. Approximately one more month later, same thing happened. This time it fell against another plate, chipping the other one too. I looked behind one of the other plates and it was half peeling off. So I am adding water, and maybe I will hot glue gun it to the plate. I originally purchased the wire plate hanger from Michael's, but returned it and got this based on the good reviews. I wished I kept the wire hangers instead even though did not look as good with the hooks visible around the plate, but at least it would have been more secure. I do not recommend these english plate hanger discs, especially if you have super val uable plates. Mine peeled off and I followed the directions exactly.

So far so good!

So far, this hanger is doing exactly what I wanted it to do, namely to hang a four-inch-square plate without the hardware of traditional plate hangers. It was quite easy to prepare the adhesive and hang the plate, and the plate is now safely on my wall. The only drawback so far is that my plate is semi-transparent in areas, so you can see a hint of yellow from the adhesive circle. I doubt anyone just casually looking at the plate will notice, though. And it's definitely less distracting than the wire hangers. I will certainly update this review if the plate ever comes crashing down!

Not what I expected but it works great!

These discs are a thin material and have dried glue on the back. They come with instructions on how to attach them to the plate. Hopefully I followed them well! To get the glue working I got the disc wet and work up the glue with my fingers. I then wait a couple of minutes before attaching the disc to my plate. The next day I hung the plate up! It works. My plates have been on the wall for over a week now - no problems.

I didn't expect the disc to involve actual work to put it on, but less than 10 minutes of your time for a plate to hang on your wall forever seems like a good time investment. I also found it a little difficult to get the hook level.

But I'm impressed. I would order these again.
